Dental implants are changing the way people live. They are designed to provide a foundation for replacing teeth that look, feel, and function like natural teeth. A person who has lost teeth regains the ability to eat virtually anything, knowing that teeth appear natural and that facial contours will be preserved. Patients with dental implants can smile with confidence.
Why Dental Implants?
Once you learn about dental implants, it can provide a doorway to renewed self-confidence and peace of mind. We understand how tooth loss can affect self- confidence, ability to eat and may discourage you from smiling and enjoying social activities. You are not alone. Drs. Dachowski and Sock help people with these problems every day.
What Are Dental Implants?
Dental implants are small titanium posts that are surgically placed into the area where teeth are missing. They act as tooth root substitutes. The bone bonds with the titanium, creating a strong foundation for artificial teeth. Dental implants are stable anchors for artificial replacement teeth.
Implants also help preserve facial structure, preventing bone deterioration that occurs when teeth are missing.
Advanced Minimally Invasive Implant Surgery
Using the most recent advances in dental implant technology, Drs. Dachowski and Sock are able to place single stage implants or even immediate implants. In many cases the implants can be placed at the same time as a tooth is removed – further minimizing the number of surgical procedures. These implants do not require a second procedure to uncover them. Drs. Dachowski and Sock’s experience and specialty training, allows them to extract teeth and place implants with crowns at one visit. This procedure is called “immediate loading.”
Once the implants are beneath the surface of the gums they begin bonding with the jawbone. After the implant has bonded to the jaw, an abutment and final crown is placed on the implant by your dentist.
Don’t worry, at no time will you be without a tooth. A temporary tooth or flipper can be made that appears and functions normally. Most patients experience minimal to no disruption in their daily life and are smiling with confidence as they leave the office.
What Options Are Available?
The number of implants you may need varies depending upon the condition of your mouth and which type of treatment is recommended. Drs. Dachowski and Sock will discuss all available treatment options and will help you decide your best course of care. Below please find a basic explanation of treatment options available at our office.
- A single crown is used to replace one missing tooth – each prosthetic tooth attaches to its own implant.
- A fixed bridge can replace many teeth and may require fewer implants.
- A complete fixed bridge replaces all the teeth in your upper or lower jaw.
- An over denture attaches securely attaches to implants and is removable for proper cleaning.
- All-on-4™ is an option that allows Drs. Dachowski and Sock to perform a complete rehabilitation of the upper or lower jaw with only four implants. This minimally invasive procedure allows the patient to leave the office with their new teeth the same day.
Why Select Dental Implants Over More Traditional Types Of Restorations?
Why sacrifice the structure of adjacent healthy teeth to bridge a space? In addition, removing a denture or a “partial” at night may be inconvenient, not to mention that dentures that slip can be uncomfortable and rather embarrassing. Most patients find proper hygiene very difficult with bridges and dentures. Since bridges and dentures do not stimulate the jawbone, it melts away over time leading to changes in your natural facial contours. Dental implants allow you to maintain your existing bone and smile with confidence.
